Interim President/CEOThe New England Board of Higher Education seeks an interim president to lead this six-state regional organization from February 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 as a vital asset to New England residents, institutions of higher education and public officials. Since 1955, NEBHE has been charged to increase educational opportunities and services for New England residents; promote regional cooperation and the efficient use of educational resources among New England's 260 public and independent colleges, universities and graduate schools; and assess and strengthen the connection between higher education and economic development in New England through sponsorship of policy research and by conducting forums on higher education issues. NEBHE's member states are Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Qualifications include: A record of accomplishment acquired in an executive position in corporate, public or higher education administration; a demonstrated record of successful fundraising; a history of association with or grasp of higher education issues, administration and culture; facility in working with elected and appointed public officers; diplomatic skills that build consensus among competing interests; a dynamic personality that motivates individuals and teams to achieve common goals; and a history of building organizational competence and efficiency. Connection Editorial InternConnection is the quarterly journal of the New England Board of Higher
Education (NEBHE), and is America's only regional journal on higher
education and economic development. Each issue offers expert analysis
and hard-hitting commentaries on topics such as workforce development,
access to higher education, science policy, education funding, emerging
industries, and interstate regionalism.
Duties include:
• Researching and writing content for new online offerings
• Working with the executive editor to plan editorial content
• Identifying potential authors at the direction of the executive editor
• Proofing and copyediting Connection manuscripts and other NEBHE publications
• Collecting and analyzing data for use in the magazine
• Writing material for Connection and other NEBHE publications and correspondence
• Contributing to the design process
• Developing circulation strategy, including electronic circulation
• Conducting research to update Connection and NEBHE mailing lists
