Howdy Partner! New England Council Publishes Directory of Higher Ed-Industry Partnerships

By John O. Harney

The New England Council (NEC) published its first edition of “Partnerships for the Talent Pipeline: Directory of New England Higher Education & Industry Partnerships.”

In addition to traditional classroom training, New England educators and employers have forged partnerships to provide experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for future job opportunities and post-graduation career success.

The partnerships listed in the directory include NEBHE’s Problem-Based Learning (PBL) program, a National Science Foundation-funded initiative that features real-world case studies from industry partners in optics and photonics, sustainable technologies and advanced manufacturing.

NEBHE recently convened 300 education leaders, employers and state and national workforce development experts in Boston to share ideas on Talent 4.0: How Employable are New England’s College Graduates and What Can Higher Education Do About It?

As two stalwart regional organizations NEBHE and the NEC have themselves partnered on various initiatives over the years, including NEBHE’s DC Shuttle, featuring national education news drawn from the NEC.
