The New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) is highly respected for its convening of influential decision-makers in K-12 education, higher education, business and government. NEBHE’s issue-oriented conferences and its annual Excellence Awards Dinner attract over a thousand annual participants. NEBHE’s online journal, now entirely on the web following over a quarter century of printed publication, is a go-to source for educators, corporate leaders, elected officials and journalists across the region and the world. The RSP Tuition Break program’s publications are accessed in print and online by thousands of students, school officials and organizations.
NEBHE Programs
Tuition Break, NEBHE’s cornerstone Regional Student Program (RSP), saves New England students and families millions of dollars on their out-of-state public college tuition bills each year, when they pursue specialized degree programs not offered by their home-state public colleges. Through Tuition Break, students can enroll in hundreds of discounted degree programs. Thousands of students and families, guidance counselors and school officials access Tuition Break information online, as well as from their local high schools and public libraries. Since its inception in 1957, the program has saved New England families a total of well over one billion dollars.
After more than 25 years of experience as an authority on trends and analysis in higher education for thought leaders in New England and beyond, NEBHE published the final print edition of its respected New England Journal of Higher Education in February and moved fully online as part of a robust NEBHE "content hub.". The new Journal includes the provocative perspectives and thoughtful analysis of key issues that characterized the print journal, but now with the added frequency and interactivity made possible by online technologies, it serves as a portal for all things related to New England higher education and its vital role in powering the region’s human capital and innovative economy.
NEBHE's Department of Policy and Research serves as a resource to education, government, and business leaders throughout New England. It seeks to provide timely information and policy research to inform decision-makers and the public about issues relating to higher education and workforce development throughout New England.
The STEM Problem Based Learning (PBL) program develops curriculum and teaches teachers about emerging technology fields with support from the Advanced Technological Education program of the National Science Foundation and industry associations. This program prepares high school and college STEM instructors to introduce students to problem-based learning, a strategy that enhances content retention, critical thinking and teamwork skills.
The NEBHE Master Property Program (MPP) is a comprehensive "all risk" property insurance program with coverage and services tailored specifically to meet the needs of higher education, at costs that have consistently been below industry trends. The MPP is a regional collaborative venture that reduces insurance costs and improves asset protection. It has generated over $50 million in savings for its participating institutions since its inception in 1994.
