Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., announced he will be step down as the 31st president of the College of the Holy Cross once a successor is in place.

A computer scientist with an interest in the intersection of technology and ethics, McFarland was named president of the Worcester, Mass., Jesuit college in 2000. Before that, he served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.
