Bartending can be a great way to develop skills for working well with customers, teams, and multitasking. The jobs are not low wage. Many bartenders make 50,000 plus a year, while gaining skills and building networks. I see this as a great career path for the young, mature college grad, who is not ready to committ to a 9- 5 job, but needs good income and experience. It takes some intelligence to do the job well. Persons that are educated have more depth, and customers enjoy conversing with them, which is a boon to the establishment. Bartenders often progress to Bar Manager, thus gaining management experience. I think it can be a wise career path, especially in cities in which tourism is a large industry. bar tending jobs are not easy to find in many of these places.
