NEBHE, through the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), offers Cost Savings programs developed in response to recognized needs of postsecondary institutions. Cost Savings is an area of NEBHE that grows as needs are identified. All educational institutions and public agencies in New England are eligible to participate.

NEBHE offers cost saving purchasing options through its agreements with MHEC. MHEC’s technology contracts cover hardware, software, data, networking, and services. They are designed to meet diverse institutional needs, from large universities that require complex IT solutions to smaller colleges that seek essential tools. These contracts eliminate the need for individual RFPs and vendor negotiations while still allowing contracts to be tailored to users’ needs. MHEC’s collaborative model empowers institutions of all sizes and locations to access premium solutions at competitive rates. These savings are available to New England colleges and universities; K-12 districts and entities; city, county, and state governments, and some non-profit organizations purchasing computers, software, printers, and other products.

Campuses can leverage MHEC’s contract knowing that MHEC has performed its due diligence through a comprehensive and extensive RFP process. Guided by student health leaders across the Midwest who serve on its Student Health Benefits Advisory Committee, MHEC has selected UnitedHealthCare – Student Resources for its contract for student health insurance.
